Parking: Let's be very direct. Parking is an absolute nightmare. The few paid lots in the village are full before noon. Most people end up parking on the side of the main road and walking a kilometer or two. A smaller Rent a Car in Heraklion will be much easier to park than a giant SUV.

Time Needed & Accessibility: You can come for one day, or stay for all three. How much time is needed is totally up to you. Accessibility is tough. It's a crowded beach and a packed village with uneven surfaces. It's not designed for easy mobility.

Pro Tip: Book your accommodation months, and I mean months, in advance. Or be prepared to sleep somewhere else. Everything in and around Matala sells out completely. Visiting the beaches of South Crete is amazing, but requires planning.
So, is it worth it? If you hate crowds or loud music, stay far away. But if you want a unique, chaotic, and memorable experience, it's unforgettable.
